The Torch Is Here! Let’s Get It Going On T-Mobile!

Posted under Tips & Tricks by Berryologist on Sunday 15 August 2010 at 5:55 pm

Say what you want about sliders, but this is one bad ass BlackBerry! Then, if your reading this you already know that. That is, until you had it unlocked and put in your T-Mobile or other carriers SIM card and discovered nothing works. Well, like the Storm and the Tour before it, we’ve got your back!

First, if you haven’t already, you need to SIM unlock it. We use and recommend Unlocking.com. They will have you an unlock code in minutes. Also, to help us celebrate the launch of the Torch, they’ve given us $5 off unlocks to share with you. Just use promo code Torch.

Now click on over and let’s get started,

How to Get All Features Working on Your BlackBerry Torch 9800 With the Carrier YOU Choose!

Get your unlocked Storm running on T-Mobile, AT&T, T-Mobile UK, Cinci Bell and More!

Posted under Tips & Tricks by Berryologist on Sunday 15 February 2009 at 12:43 pm

NOW WITH Wi-Fi SUPPORT FOR STORM 9520/9550 AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAC USERS!

So you got yourself a shiny new Blackberry Storm, had it unlocked and popped in your T-Mo SIM. Uh oh, what’s this? No Browser? No MMS or T-Zones or AIM! What! Relax. We got you covered. It’s all because of service books. Since Verizon is a CDMA network and has exclusivity rights to the Storm, Your carrier can’t push the necessary service books to the device to power it. So we’ve crunched this fix down to a simple, illustrated 2 step, less than 5 minute fix. Sorry Verizon, you’re just too damn high! Click on over and we’ll show you how!

How to Get Browser and Data on a Unlocked 9630 Tour or Bold 9650 and Your Carrier

Posted under Tips & Tricks by Berryologist on Friday 24 July 2009 at 11:38 am

The BlackBerry 9630 Tour is officially here and it sure is a beauty. This is another World Edition phone, meaning it is capable of working on both CDMA and GSM networks. My friend J.J. has a sweet, grandfathered in plan with At&t for personal use. But his company supplies him with Verizon, requiring him to carry two phones. With the Tour, once unlocked, he can use both Verizon and At&t and keep everything on one device! Or if you have to have the latest and greatest and don’t want to sell your house to afford Verizon’s prices, we’ve put together another simple, illustrated, 2 step easy fix to get all that BlackBerry goodness on your new Tour with the carrier YOU choose.

First, you will need to have it unlocked. You can sometimes get the carrier to do this if you have been with them for a determined amount of time, never had a late bill, get a willing rep on the phone, have the right shoe size, lie a little and cross your fingers. Otherwise, let UniquePhones take care of that for you. They will have you a code and on your way in 1-3 minutes.

Now, click on over and let’s get started!

Now available for Mac and PC!

How to get UMA working on a 9800 On T-Mobile

Posted under Tips & Tricks by Berryologist on Thursday 7 October 2010 at 7:46 pm

Capture on 10-06-2010 19-20-54

I frequently get asked if UMA calling can work on the Torch 9800 on T-Mobile. I hate the question because the answer is yes, however it’s not super simple and requires you to enter the Engineering Screen on your BlackBerry. No big deal if you’re a BlackBerry veteran or pretty tech savvy.  But, if you’re not careful in this hidden menu you can render your shiny new Torch useless.

Now with that said, Luis a moderator over at BerryReview has put together everything you need in nice simple step-by-step. To get started, click the link below. Take your time, if have any questions, Luis is there to answer in the thread.

Ronen over at BerryReview Goes on a Rant and We Couldn’t Agree More!

Posted under Tips & Tricks by Berryologist on Thursday 29 July 2010 at 6:14 am

Yesterday, BerryReview’s Ronen aired a grievance that has frustrated us and many others for a long time.  The article,  RANT! Why Can’t RIM Let Us Delete Our BIS Account? outlines how  difficult it can be to use a previously owned BlackBerry when the previous owner has not removed the device from their BIS account.

We fully agree. The average user doesn’t know they need to do this and it should be much easier. Have a look at the rant and follow BerryReview on Twitter for some of the best news, tips and opinions on all things BlackBerry.

T-Mobile having data issues with unsupported devices.

Posted under Tips & Tricks by Berryologist on Friday 11 June 2010 at 11:45 am

Many T-Mobile customers using unsupported devices, are loosing  data connection (EDGE) for the past few days. Crackberry ran this post on the issue, T-Mobile killing service to unlocked Storm devices?.  T-Mobile’s Twitter folks say “It’s not intentional. We’re looking into what happened so we can get that fixed up!”

T-Mobile Teir 2 BlackBerry support reps say, “It’s a known issue at the moment for all unsupported blackberrys on T-Mobiles Network. No reason yet to why but we are looking into it.” And, “they’ve opened a master service ticket with RIM. The issue is affecting all unsupported Blackberry devices on T-Mobile’s network.”

We’ll be trying to find out more information and pass it along  as soon as we can.

****UPDATE****

Looks like tmonews.com has picked up on this as well.  We got sporadic reports of people getting EDGE back today.

9550 USERS, DO NOT UPDATE TO OS 5.0.0.607

Posted under Tips & Tricks by Berryologist on Saturday 3 April 2010 at 3:42 pm

THIS HAS BEEN FIXED, IT’S SAFE TO USE 5.0.0.607.  I’LL GET A POST UP ASAP. IF YOU NEED THE INFO BEFORE THEN EMAIL US AT support@berryology.com

Untitled-2.jpg picture by milsphil

OS 5.0.0.607 for the Storm 2 9550 leaked a few days ago. DO NOT install it.  It’s either a flaw or RIM has intentionally closed the back door on how to make your phone work on other carriers.  Believe which ever you like.  There is also rumors this OS version will be officially released by Verzion. That means when you connect your Storm to Desktop Manager you will be prompted to updated there as well. DO NOT ALLOW.  For now, stay with 5.0.0.517 and wait for the next version.

If you already did install 5.0.0.607, follow the link below on how to roll back to your previous version.
